05/09/2003 – LONDON, Ontario, Canada Following a comprehensive four month selection process, TDS automotive has been chosen by BMW to provide outbound logistics services for their new China project. Under the terms of this 5 year contract TDS will perform CKD (complete knock-down) export packing services to support BMW Group, and joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., production of BMW ‘3 series’ vehicles in Shenyang, China. Production of a new BMW ‘5 series’ model is expected to follow. The scope of work for which TDS automotive assumes responsibility includes receiving, inspection, warehousing and consolidation, oil conservation of body metal parts, building of special overseas packaging, packing of vehicle components and stuffing of sea containers. TDS will provide these services from a brand new 40,000m2 building in Regensburg, Bavaria GY, located next to the BMW ‘3 series’ production plant. This new TDS export program scheduled to launch June 2003 will employ approximately 300 people. TDS automotive is a premium supplier of specialized, integrated and high-complexity material logistics services to the global automotive industry. TDS core services are sub-assembly, sequencing and export packing; together with supply-chain management, parts distribution, packaging engineering and packaging design. TDS currently has facilities operating throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America, including TDS/US minority joint venture operations, based in the United States.
