Germany to South Africa: TDS takes over Part-by-Part supply for BMW Print E-mail
05/12/2006

05/12/2006 – Regensburg, Germany

TDS automotive logistics first began its operation in Regensburg, Germany in 2003, providing export packing services to BMW AG. At the time services were solely focused on providing export packing of body metal for the BMW 3 and 5 series for final assembly in China.

Through strategic focus on becoming the industry leader specialized in handling body metal, TDS soon became a competence centre for BMW Worldwide, handling all body metal for export. Subsequently additional models and markets have been added to TDS Regensburg’s scope of work.

Demonstrated expertise together with continuous provision of high quality services positioned TDS to take over handling the body metal supply to South Africa. The complete part-by-part scope for South Africa was contracted to TDS in the 3rd quarter of 2005. Ramp-up for this contract began in February within the existing Regensburg facility and will continue until the end of June, 2006; handling up to 180.000 m3 per year at full rate.
