01/18/2005 – Mississauga, Ontario, Canada TDS logistics has established a new industry division dedicated to servicing Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) supply. Under the branded name “TDS mro logistics”, in partnership with A.T. Kearney, this division of TDS will focus on providing specialized logistics services handling the non-production material required to support daily operation of assembly facilities. Under the initial structure TDS mro logistics will service the non-production material requirements for Chrysler assembly locations in Michigan and Ohio. It is anticipated that this scope of service will expand to cover most of the Chrysler facilities across North America within a couple of years. Partner company A.T. Kearney holds responsibility for coordinating and centralizing procurement functions of all mro supplies. TDS maintains responsibility for all consolidation, warehousing, order receipt and fulfillment and JIT delivery directly to the assembly locations. The ‘consumable’ items which will be handled as “MRO” under this program vary greatly from safety gloves and eye/ear protection to screwdriver bits; from paper-towels to specific nuts, bolts and washers needed to maintain specialized assembly equipment.
